Ascent of Bills Peak on 2017-05-20
|Date:||Saturday, May 20, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6917 ft / 2108 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis was an alternative climb to Colfax which was cancelled due to heavy snow during the week. Started from the Beverly Creek trail head and had to remove boots for the stream crossing. Ran into consistent snow around 5000' but snowshoes were not required and once we reached the saddle we made a left and headed straight up the ridge line for the summit. Had originally planned to link up with Bean Peak but upon leaving the summit a party member triggered a very small and slow moving loose wet avalanche that continued down the slope for about 100'. Due to rapidly softening snow conditions we decided to head out after only one peak.
