Ascent Trip ReportThe third of three Marilyns ascended today - and the most pleasurable with the rain abating. Started at the car park at NZ052998 and followed the public footpath over Dove Crag and Simonside. There is then a descent down to the forestry road. A lot of the wood has now been harvested so the forest shown on the OS map no longer exists. A gentle ascent takes you back to point 422m which is about 1km from the true top of Tosson Hill. This is grand open country with the chortling of grouse and the calls of other bird life. Back the same way. 10km round trip of around 3 hours including stops.
