Ascent Trip ReportHiked up Snake Den Ridge trail from Cosby Campground to Tricorner Knob shelter on the AT. Dumped pack and then used Balsam trail to access manway to Mark's Knob. Manway held, with old flagging tape, for about half the distance, then seemed to turn down and away from the knob. I turned up to the ridgeline on the eastern flank of the ridge and bushwhacked to the summit. Very small cairn of rocks and some old flagging; GPS indicated that I was on the summit.
Returned to Balsam trail and turned back toward the shelter. Where trail comes closest to the ridge leading up to Tricorner/Yonaguska I bushwhacked up to the ridge line and then went south to the summit of Yonaguska. (CMC stipulates that either Yonaguska or Tricorner Knob counts for the SB6K). Located the summit, with a tiny rock cairn and several bits of flagging tape. Bushwhacked straight down to the trail and then back to Tricorner Knob shelter for the night.
