Ascent Trip ReportSolo mission starting at 3:45PM, ending at 7:30PM.
I parked on the La Plata canyon main gravel road, next to bedrock creek.
There's a road that goes up paralell to the creek, and I started hiking up that. Eventually get funneled into a mountain meadow with views of Babcock Peak, and part of Gibbs peak.
Since there was about 2 feet of snow on the ground, I just started bushwacking up through the nicely spread out trees.
I don't own a paur of snowshoes, so this made it a bit harder, and scarier. In one section I fell through the snow to about chest deep, but was able to drag myself up.
Pretty steep snow in the top half, and the last section was some nice easy rock.
The temperature must have been in the 30's with the windchill factor.
