Ascent Trip Report

There is another trip report on the highpoint of San Onofre State Beach however, it only includes the beach part. There is another part of this state park that is on the other side of I-5. You need to access the Avenida La Pata road which ends at a dog park. There is a access road to the trails of this park. You need to follow the road staying always to the right as the road meanders along the county line which is parallel to the park boundary. I followed this road for more than a mile until in crests right near a fence line. From here there is a single track trail that goes through the fence to a small crest (683 ft). Here you bushwack 20 or so feet to the east to the fence line where you will find a survey marker. I stuck my foot through the fence and thus the highpoint of San Onofre State Beach Park. I included a GPX track which includes my checking out other potential HPs. I hand leveled to the north and this point is the highest. This is number 118 in my quest to seek the highest point of all 280 California State Park Highpoints.
