Ascent Trip ReportI made my approach to Hog Mountain from the east. The topo map showed an access road straight to the highpoint, but it was no longer visible. I left my car and started a moderate bushwhack east not know that there was a road just 50 yards to the north that I could have followed instead, but I did intersect that road after a short distance and was able to follow it all the way to the summit. I reached a fenced lookout tower after hiking .2 mile in 8 minutes with the highest point just west of the tower outside of the fence. The summit sits on a ridge and overlooks huge water tanks below to the west, but that is the only view from the highpoint. I followed the road I discovered all the way back to the main access road, instead of doing any of the bushwhacking I did earlier, and it only added 50 extra yards to my return hike. I got back to my car in just 4 minutes.
