Ascent Trip Report

***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Mat Kelliher, Mike Dillenback

Second day of the HPS Spring Fling, which was held at the Borrego Palms Canyon Campground in Borrego Springs, CA. We all met up at the campground (Tanya and I stayed at the Stanlunds Resort in BS Saturday night) and then drove a longer route through Anza Borrego (hoping to see more flowers) before heading up the standard HPS route for Combs Peak. The sometimes (?) locked gate was open, and the last 4.9 miles on dirt road was passable to low clearance 2WD cars. We parked at the saddle and made our way north on the PCT to the saddle below Combs peak, then up to the summit on well marked, easy to follow use trail. Really good views up top, a bite to eat, and then back down the way we came in.
