Ascent Trip Report

Climbed Lane peak via the Zipper. Left the Narada falls parking lot at 9:45. We wore snow shoes till the base of gully where we switched to crampons (and stashed our snow shoes). Conditions are pretty solid in the Zipper right now. Good hard ice which made for perfect cramponing. Me and my partner had a 2nd ice tool which really helped. We had ropes and pickets but did not use them. We topped out at 2:18 PM. After taking a small break, we dropped our packs (big mistake) and went for the summit via the gulley directly in front of us (instead of the standard route gulley further to the left). Snow was solid for step kicking. After some mixed rock moves we got on the summit ridge which was a knife edge with freaky exposure on both sides. We walked across half way before deciding to call it good (20m from the true summit along the same ridgeline). We then downclimbed back our ascent route to our packs and descended back down the regular route (via the saddle) to our snow shoe stash. Snowshoed back to the car by 7:30 PM.
