Ascent Trip Report

Private trip, snow climb of north gully of Mt Baden-Powell using ice ax and crampons. According to Phil's track downloaded to Caltopo, we exceeded 40 degrees. First 600' on dirt trail from Vincent Gap, then popped over into the snow-filled gully. Started with 7 climbers; two returned to parking lot after 1000' on snow. Remaining five summited (Phil Bates, Jack Kieffer, Robert Gallandt, Peter Lara, myself). 2300' snow climb topping at 9400'. Beautiful, clear day! Not much wind. Route is good but was thin or mud/rock in places. Would be better earlier in the year. There is also a nice gully to the east of the trailhead that is worth considering for a future climb.
