David Sanger -- Trip Report or GPS Track
|Date:||Tuesday, March 28, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||9157 ft / 2791 m|
Ascent Trip ReportA dusting of snow the previous night meant that the road was closed at the ski resort. We parked here and walked 2.2 miles up the road to the summit area with the observatories. The gate here was also locked, so we crossed the barbed wire fence some distance to the right. The summit register and benchmark are just outside the fenced area by a green gate.
We met Bob the botanist at the summit. He was checking on his bees, which collect pollen from nearby flowers so that he can analyze the distribution of plants. He kindly gave us a ride down to our car in his truck so that we could continue on to Mt. Rice.
