Ascent Trip ReportMountaineers winter scramble led by Andy C. So, so very close! Basically did all the elevation gain, but no summit due to avy danger. We did not want to go up the main drainage the way it's usually done. Instead we went through and next to the trees on the west of the drainage to reach the ridge. While on the ridge we reached an area we couldn't pass due to cornices. We didn't want to drop down on the other side either due to avy conditions. Very disappointing as it was my second try. Cloudy day and snowing very lightly most of the day. If it had been a bluebird day, doubt we could have gone as far as we did. Great workout and still some nice views. Took crampons, but not needed. |
