Ascent Trip Report

The peak looks easy from the parking spot, but it is a full day's hike of about 8.6 miles round-trip with about 2900 ft. of gain. This track was our descent route which was a lot better than the ascent where we went more direct toward the peak and had to traverse a ridge going west to get past a deep canyon south of the summit. It is best to go north as shown across the drainages to get to the east ridge then go up to Coyote benchmark. The benchmark was a drill hole in a rock placed in 1895 which we didn't since we were looking for the usual brass disk which they weren't placing at that early date. Fine views on the summit and worth the effort. 3/17 RLC
