Ascent Trip ReportStarted at the local park called Wealkand Fawks Park. Parked in limited dirt lot and found the trail well signed immediately ahead. The trail is well marked, maintained, and nicely laid out. It is a short quick climb to the top but the views were far better than expected. Yes, there is some radio junk near the true peak and you do have to tippee toe around the fence on some rock to get to the true summit but the park folks laid out a nice sitting bench area on the smaller sub-peaks next to it and the views over the cliff edge were a pleasant surprise. For a quick rewarding acclimation hike in the area between Denver and Fairplay you can't beat this for a quick fun hike. Extra gain on descent was scrambling some shelves for fun before leaving. I forgot to measure the mileage up and back so this is my best guess that is a RT of 1 mile and about 450 gain |
