Ascent Trip Report

Got up early and found the parking lot on the west side. I had afib again the night before and my pulse was still a bit fast so I walked up slower than usual up the very steep bike-hike trail. The quarry area is directly to your right when you reach the plateau. The trails are well marked and you are asked to stay on the trails to protect the lichens and the grasses and fragile ecosystem. The true peak is a small outcropping of rock with the name "Lichen Peak" Interestingly, the point on peakbagger is marking the next peak over but it is clearly lower than this point and an observation of the topo shows indeed that the original marker placed in peakbagger assuemd the closed contour with the USGS spot elevation further to the north when the true summit is Lichen Peak without a USGS elevation and is actually higher than what this elevation says at 6566. Fortunatley the trail ends at the true summit at elevation 5,570+

Sometime we should request Greg to move the circle to the true summit that we are all climbing!
