Ascent of Baboquivari Peak on 2017-03-11
|Date:||Saturday, March 11, 2017|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7734 ft / 2357 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove here after Cerro del Pinacate. Cooler here, but still hot and the heat yesterday sapped some of our energy. Very nice campground (free, permit required) with flush toilets, TP, soap, paper towels, trash cans. Quiet. Started shortly after dawn. Need to gain 4000' prior to the fun of the ramp and the wall. It was warmer than we would have liked, but while at the wall we cooled to the point of shivering being in the shade and wind. Peter led and I belayed from below, then he set up a belay station with the chains bolted in at the top. Jim and I climbed up and then we made our way to the summit. Surprising amount of brush and trees up there which are not visible from below. Returned the same route, rappelling down the wall. Really fun peak!!!
