Ascent Trip Report

This was a two day backpack starting at Highway S22 in Anza Borrego State Park and ending at 84th Street near Highway 86. I left the truck at the Rabbit/Villager trailhead along Highway S22 at 11:00 a.m. and backpacked up to Villager Peak following the use trail. After signing the summit register, I continued down the ridge to an intervening ridge, which I followed down to Zosel Benchmark, where I camped for the night. The next morning, I dropped down the ridge to Crab Benchmark and then to Alice Benchmark, then contoured over to and down the ridge to Dawn Benchmark. Next, I continued down the ridge and then over to 84th Street, arriving at 4:00 p.m., where Kelley Laxamana picked me up.

The GPS said my route was 19.5 miles, 5900' of elevation gain and 6675' of elevation loss. Also, trip stats include ascents of all five summits.

Alice Benchmark did not have a summit register book; however, I left paper and a pencil in the existing nesting tin cans.
