Ascent of Mount Reinstein on 2009-08-18
|Date:||Tuesday, August 18, 2009|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12586 ft / 3836 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe started fro our camp at Division Lake around 9 am, visited Regimen Lake and traversed above Ram & Ewe lakes to the tarn at 11280 feet at the base of Reinstein. From this tarn, one can see the summit of Reinstein; there is no false summit.
From the tarn, we switch-backed up the scree in the middle of the south slope aiming towards the clearly visible, light-colored cliff 200 feet below the summit. We then scrambled up the gully to the immediate left of the cliff (beautiful Sky Pilots still blooming). At the top of the gully, the peak is toward your right. The summit register started in 1986, only a few pages left. We took the same way down.
From the tar, it took us 1 hour 25 minutes up and 1 hour 15 minutes down.
