Ascent Trip Report

Well, this is the first mountain I've climbed this year, but by far the most important. It was decently warm, plenty of sunshine with just a few scattered clouds and the trail nice and dry. My girlfriend Megan and I started up in late morning with my (our) dog Jax and made great time. My legs grew pretty shaky towards the top, but not because of the hike itself. It was because in my hiking pack was a custom engagement ring that I had had made for her, inside a box that I had turned from Honduran rosewood on my lathe the night before. Our second date was on the top of this Buck Mountain and it was where we had our first kiss, so it was by far the perfect place to ask her such an important question. We enjoyed the view and she took some pictures while I worked up the courage to ask. And she said hike ever!
