Ascent Trip ReportFinding this on peakbagger was a pleasant surprise. I've lived in Montpelier for 25 years and, I guess, I thought the HUbbard Park Tower was the "highpoint". Even after hiking this delightful walk, I had to check the map to be sure it is the highest. It appears to be so.
I parked at the Wrightsville Dam parking area on Horn of the Moon Road and hiked in a south easterly direction. It proved to be an easy and very enjoyable whack of about 2 miles RT with old stone walls, large pines, and older logging roads. While there aren't any views from the high point there is a ledgy mini ridge. Using my GPS I finally got an elevation reading of 1,100 feet - I couldn't find the extra 10 feet! This could also be approached via Gould Hill Road without much of a climb but the access would be more limited because of the houses and No Trespass Signs along that road.
