Ascent Trip Report

I was a bit worried about being accosted by homeless folk on this climb, having read some of the previous descriptions. However, it turned out to be one of the better climbs I'd done in the Portland area, since there were no private property issues and the homeless were MIA. I started at the flatland stretch of 103rd and hiked past a partially trashed and curtained van, parked at a pullout in front of a gate blocking further auto traffic, which was just below one of the nicer houses in the neighborhood at 2965 103rd Ave, which sported a prominent "private property, no trespassing" sign. 103rd continued with a well-tagged guard rail on the left, and where it forked above, someone had built a fire leaving a small pile of burnt logs. Someone had also planted hundreds of little flags in several areas above where the road in was further blocked with several piles of shrub shredder debris. A path continued to the right of the road through some trees to a high point, which is well marked with a USGS survey marker and a more obvious "do not disturb this marker" sign next to it. I hiked this on a partially foggy mid-morning during the holidays.
