Ascent Trip Report

Lee F. and I made preparations, prepositioned a vehicle at the other end, and then drove up to 11,000 ft. on the Halfmoon-Mt. Champion 4WD road. We car-camped and at 5:40 am we started bushwhacking up to treeline. We gained the summit of French, 13940 ft., at 9:30 am. We headed over to Frasco, 13876 ft. We had to wade through some snow to get to the top, at 10:30 am. Descending the ridge toward Casco was slow, avoiding the towers on steep talus to the right. That took an hour. It was an easy stroll up to Casco. The last 50-100 ft. was a fun class 3-class 4 cliff climb, ridge ascent, 13908 ft. At 1:00 pm we started the long ridge run over to T4. Lee F had to take a rest at the saddle. At the top of the ridge there was a crumbly step, then a broad summit stroll to the interesting summit knob, 13823 ft. We changed descent plans and scree slid down to 12000 ft. and contoured toward the right. We came down to Colorado Hwy 82 near the point of interest turnoff. We then hitchhiked 1 mile uphill to where we had stashed my Bronco. 6:00 pm. I then drove Lee back to his vehicle. On the way home I spaced out and took a nap, 1 hour, at Idaho Springs. I got home at 1:00 am.
