Ascent Trip Report

A storm let us opt to do the fantastic big loop in nearby Chiricahua National Monument. After the initial mile we only saw 1 person the rest of the day. If you are chasing prominence peaks and you don't do this you are doing it wrong! The next day it cleared and we had a very, very cold night. 3 fresh inches of snow made for a nice contract and there was large amounts of rhime ice in the trees along the ridge that came crashing down later in the day and was probably more dangerous than many of the loose gullys I have done, which is saying something. I got knocked once with a baseball size one int he shoulder, but luckily none of the torse sized pieced that occasionally came crashing down got me. Met 2 couples of border patrol on the way back, told me to be careful. Great day!
