Ascent Trip Report

We headed out 7:00 am. At 9:00 am, 1.5 miles above Crater Lake or so, we tackled the 3000 ft. of grassy meadow up to the ridge. The meadow is very steep, the cliff bands across it tend to be fractured and the whole is prone to rockfall. Having gained
the ridge, the sedimentary strata was easier (and quite mind expanding). I made the summit 250 ft. after Van Zet, at 2:20 pm. We headed down at 2:40 pm and quickly caught up with a CMC group that had made the summit much earlier. They weren't doing great considering the amount of experience they had. Afterwards we gave one of them a lift down to Aspen Highlands. We discovered rockfall going down the grassy meadows. Much
later, at 8:30 pm, we got back to the car.
