Ascent of Pleasant Point on 2016-12-04

|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||9690 ft / 2953 m|
Ascent Trip ReportUsed DPS routes B and C. Route A is closed to vehicles and hikers. Went to Route B 4WD parking point at saddle 1.2 miles from 2WD park. Took "foot trail" past the cabins and all the way to where it reconnects with the road. Followed the road up (north) to the 4WD parking spot for Route C. Took the slope/ridge to the summit. Returned down to the road, then decided to follow the road back to the truck to see if the truck would have made it. No, there needs to be a lot of high trimming for our truck/camper to get through. Jeeps could do it easily. Subarus probably, but it might require some finesse with the ruts in the road in places. Not rocky, though.
We stayed the night at a nice campsite just west of the saddle. Spectacular sunset! We recommend not driving to this 4WD parking point because it takes longer than walking that 1.2 miles. The road slants outward and there is a steep drop off.
