1AM rose to prepare for 2AM start
2AM - no one else up. Went to Simon and Sally's tent to ask why and told climb was off due to
new snow covering trail
4AM - was woken up and told we would climb
Simon & Sally did not climb.
There was one other rope team of 2 or 3 gung-ho fast climbers that left us way behind.
5:30-6AM - got going
Piotr & Mireille were slow, ran out of energy
11AM - summited Mera ~21000 ft (actually there was a snow pinacle just above us and beyond a large crevase
that would have required technical equipment to cross/climb)
GPS elevation: 21,162 ft, elevation gain: 1960 by alt watch, ave 390 ft/hr, 5 hr to summit
Descended to high camp and were met by porter with pot of orange Tang. But were surprised that camp was gone!
Descended to Mera La and found nothing there either.
Had to hike all the way to Tryfan rock with no food or water to meet main group.
