Ascent Trip Report

This was a private hike with Pat Vaughn, Pat Arredondo, Bruce Craig and Winnette Butler. This was suppose to be a 2 day hike, doing Bishop and Gaviota the 2nd day. For me, it was only one day. On the way down from Cerro Alto, I slipped and fell hard on my ribs. I finished the hike and even went on to hike Valencia. We spent the night camped on Pismo Beach. From me, it was a miserable night. I knew I would not be hiking the next day. Pat Arredondo could only hike the first day. Pat Vaughn and Bruce did Bishop the 2nd day. Winnette decided to save Bishop and Valencia for another day.
For Cerro Alto, the hike went well. However, I messed up on finding the trail head. I inadvertently had an old Peak guide and was looking for the Cerro Alto campground on 41 north of 101. It is actually between Highway 1 and 101, seven miles north from 1 and eight miles south of 101. For Valencia, we drove down to the Montana de Oro State Park. The trail is easy to follow.
