Ascent Trip Report

As far as I can determine, Stony Point is the 10th highest named highpoint in Minnesota. It is located on private property, but my son, Marshall, and I found the landowner to be friendly. He knew his property was the 10th highest in Minnesota and he allowed us to visit the highpoint, which is located just 100 feet southwest from a large parking area in front of the owner's house. The communication tower located to the north is at a much lower elevation. We were unable to stand on the actual highpoint because there were two rows of large round bales of hay resting on that exact spot, but we just walked around the bales in order to claim this summit. There are good views from here of the numerous wind turbines in this part of the state.
