Ascent Trip ReportWe summited the Pfeifferhorn on perhaps the last warm weekend of the season. The Red Pine drainage (northern aspect, doesn't get much sun this time of year) was already covered in snow/ice along much of the trail, however, so the going was quite slippery. I had left my crampons in the car since my climbing partner and I did not both have them (we'd turn around if we really needed them), if I do it again in the same conditions I think microspikes would be the best option.
The summit was beautiful, and the snow/ice had been melted by the sun once upon the main ridge for the route to be mostly dry.
