Ascent Trip Report

Made this trip with some friends the day before the race when we were bored with the town of Seward, it is famous for the Mount Marathon Race, which is awesome to watch a few of my friends have competed in it, it is proably the most famous race in Alaska, due to the amount of injuries and its prestige among Alaskans. The Race is only about 3.1 miles, supposedly many people believe that this might be the 2nd oldest footrace in America, it is true Alaskan with the bet started with people drinking at a bar figuring out if they could run to the top of the Mountain and back, the start has incredibly loose rock and usually comes out in your hand I sliced my thumb very good and bleed most of the way up, I have had a friend break a leg in a fall near this point, I have never been there watching the race without having someone break a bone or suffer a race-ending injury, like I said pure Alaskan fun!
