Ascent Trip Report

This was a private hike with Ron Schrantz and Ginny Heringer of 1 Lower Peak and 3 Peakbagger peaks. First was McKinley. From the 210, we went north on the 330 about 3 miles and parked at a turnout at mm 32.0. From there it was a short walk to the start of the trail at mm 32.29. When you look west, you see a ridge to the right, a ridge in the middle and an old jeep road on the left. Take the middle ridge. You will see the use trail going up the ridge. Follow this use trail to the summit. Return same way. There was a boundary marker and a register at the summit.
Next was Perris. We went back down the 330 to Highland, followed Highland to the Perris Hill park. We parked next to the baseball field and followed a paved road to the summit. The summit was a palate with several towers. We did not find a register or BM.
Next was Shandin. From Perris, we continued west on Highland to Waterman, north to 40th, west to Kendal, north to Little Mountain Dr. We turned left on Mountain and went a short distance to a school and parked in a parking lot of the school. You could see towers on Shandin Hills from the parking lot. We followed the fence line to a ridge and went up the ridge to Shandin Hills. We did not find a register or BM on Shandin. From Shandin, we continued southeast about a ½ mile to Chaparral BM. We did find a cement block on Chaparral that had a BM at one time. No register. Returned the same way.
