Ascent Trip ReportThis was my second State highpoint of the day. I left Frissell about 20 minutes ahead of my schedule so I was pretty happy about that in retrospect. However getting out of the maze of roads to the I-90 Hwy was a pain in the butt even when on hwy 7 which really wasn't a great road as there were a few pieces of road construction. Normally I write out my roads in and out but honestly I just followed by phone GPS on this trip as I was in to much of a hurry to worry about that detail.
It was a gorgeous day to say the least and I had a few hours of driving to get to the Rhode Island Highpoint. Once on Hwy 90 it was pretty straight forward. I drove due east until I got to the Hwy 395 south. Then I went down and exited at exit 41 going again east on hwy 101. It took maybe 10 minutes and that was due to a stinking truck that got in front of me and decided they didn't know how to drive the speed limit. I crossed into the state of Rhode Island and about 1 mile from the border was a sign at the top of the hill and I parked on the north side of the 101. Walked 5 minutes to 1/4 of a mile to the highpoint. Had a laugh and a shake of my head and walked 1/4 of a mile back to my car. So far only Indiana, Kansas, and Nebraska had been more pathetic a high point. Oh well as they so often say it is the journey not the destination...I then drove back to hwy 101 and 395 exit 41 and had taco bell and filled up on gas ready to head out for the third high point of the day.
Completed highpoint #18
