Ascent Trip ReportI did this a long time ago back in the 90s before I was peak bagging. On my list of peaks to return to and clean up by hitting the HP.
Public. Took the shortest trail from the South. From Burns, North on 395 to Seneca and then E on FS 16. Then North on 1640. Good gravel road suitable for any car. High TH. A smattering of snow, probably from yesterday. Hike a road for a while, the trail to the saddle. Pretty flat to that point. Then uphill across a talus slope and then the final push to the summit. Maybe up to 8 inches of snow hanging on the trail up high. But no real issue. Winter comes early at 9000 feet. Hit the summit and tagged the 9040+ spot which is clearly higher than 9038. All good. Had a pleasant time. Pretty easy but nice peak. Three cars at TH but never saw anybody on the trail.
