Ascent Trip ReportThe sign posts just on the other side of the road from the parking (the typical one in Germany: only for hikers...) lead you very slowly up the hill and in a big slope back to the 1,000m-rock and from there to the summit which is partially renaturalized after the withdrawal of the military, partially still dominated by their buildings (not being used for more than 20 years...).
The heap of rocks is clearly higher than the rock formation with stairs and a wooden tower construction on top (called Backöfele). Both are a little slippery when wet, in particular the descent from the former requires a minimal amount of attention - falling down even only three meters can cause organisational challenges. Anyhow, with clouds even lower than this peak, the panorama from both places is essentially the same ;-)
On the way down I avoided the boring slope and decided to take the quick way following the road which is not available to the public and therefore at least with no traffic. |
