Ascent Trip ReportNoel and I decided we better get into the Mowich Lake TH before the road closed for next 7 to 8 months. We meet at my house at 5:30am, our main objective was to climb the three Smoot peaks in the area and tag on few others on the way. The forecast was good, but it didn't really pan out for most of Washington on this weekend... This made for some wet rock in the morning but just passing clouds/fog for the rest of the day. Our plan was to go in via Knapsnack Pass, climb Fay, Pleasant, and Hessong Rock, then descend down into Spray Park and take the Wonderland trail to the climbers trail leading to Observation Rock and Echo Rock. We came back via the very busy Wonderland trail. I had been up Observation Rock a few times already but the views are so spectacular I couldn't pass up another trip to the top. Echo was very straight forward, not nearly as loose as some say, in fact we thought it was pretty easy. Back to the cars (9 hours C2C) and we quickly jumped into Mowich Lake much to the enjoyment of the many tourists lining the shores. Spray Park is a real gem of MRNP!
