Ascent Trip ReportMeghan and I stayed in the last dispersed camping site before the trailhead on Guanella Pass. headed up Mt Bierstadt around 5:20 AM. She had no idea what was to come. It was a bit windy and cold. Meghan ended up hiking the second half in my puffy. I was worried she was going to want to turn around due to the cold, lack of sleep, and the altitude. We pushed on and made the summit at 10:17 am. Luckily the sun had come out and we found some rocks to shelter us from the wind. We both warmed up and waited for others to take their summit photos before asking a woman on the summit to take photos of us on the summit with the cardboard sign someone else had left behind. After taking a few the woman handed back my phone...I asked her to take a few more which both the woman and Meghan thought was very strange. I got on one knee and pulled the ring out of my pocket. Meghan was shocked. The woman captured some amazing and hilarious photos of Meghan's reactions. Perfect day! |
