Ascent Trip ReportDrove from Reno to access road in cheap 2WD rental car, abused it going up the access road to the trailhead & it couldn't make it the full way, so slept in the front seat until morning. Hiked the remaining 2 miles on the washed out road to the mine trailhead. Although a clear day, the wind was unrelenting & extremely cold, especially through the saddle right before the actual climbing starts. Still snow covered, so lost the trail & had to make my own through a couple rather large & pretty steep snowfields. Beautiful, multi state views from the subpeak but didn't spend very much time on the summit as I was worried about daylight (& the cold). Descended in the dusk & drove back very late to Reno. Fun little trip!
