Ascent of Whale Peak on 2016-09-17
|Date:||Saturday, September 17, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5349 ft / 1630 m|
Ascent Trip ReportPeter and I camped in our camper at the Route 2 trailhead. The pictographs are 1 mile from the trailhead. After seeing those, we turned north around a couple of ridges and then up a canyon to the summit ridge. The trail up high is better than from there down to the pictographs. It was 100 degrees when we returned to the camper. There were numerous bees flying around. It turned out they liked the small amount of water that came out of our sink drain hose. We opted not to use our outside shower and headed home.
