Ascent Trip Report

We were on our way from Fairbanks to Ankorage and stopped in Denali Park. We started a bus trip on the Denali Park rd but it turnout to be bumpy and boring,so we hopped off at the Savage River Check Station. We had to wait for the next bus out, so we went up to the Savage River Trailhead and climbed around on the rock .We went back to the Hotel (the Denali Bluffs) and asked if there was any good peaks around. they told us Sugar Loaf was good and that some of the staff were up there right then. After getting directions we grapped our packs at took off. It was a good climb to the top,a little scramble and rocky. Near the summit we met up with the staff, three girls works summer jobs. At the top we hit both summits, there were elk antlers marking the summit. On the way down we ran out of daylight about a 1/2mile from the Lodge. Thankfully we had 1 headlantern. We ate a nice dinner at the Mountain Grill.
