Ascent of MacNaughton Mountain on 2016-09-10

|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|

| Elevation:||3983 ft / 1214 m|
Ascent Trip ReportA very clear, FLAGGED herd path is being developed if you turn left at the campsite. A bit hard to follow in the flats, but very clear going down the mountain, which was the was I took from the summit. Went up cutting a more direct line, and, as bushwhacking goes, this was pretty nice. There seems to be another path that curves around the right, this one unflagged, that came and went.
The herd path on the summit is easier to follow than some DEC trails. Some nice views here too.
Getting there, if you follow most advice here, and shoot for the middle summit, you should have a pretty nice time of it.
The trail to Wallface Ponds on the other hand....
Bring gaiters or a mud tolerance.
Poison Ivy warning coming from Scott's Pond as well. Mixed in, however, are an abundance of pitcher plants.
Also, if you're coming from the lodge, the side trip to Rocky Falls is a nice rest stop. Follow the sign to Rocky Falls on the way in, and the sign to the lean-to if you're heading back out.
