Ascent Trip ReportDetermined this locale due to the weather forecast...not so great elsewhere...and we've talked about checking out the Goat Rocks area for awhile.
Sean, Ava, Sue, Mark, Mike R, plus me.
On Sunday after climbing Gilbert Peak and heading down to the cars we all (plus Stef and Jeff) drove to Packard and had pizza/bunless burger at Cruisers in town. The festival with tons of tents and stuff was going on but none of us felt much like walking around a lot to explore those options. After dinner Stef and Jeff left for home and the rest of us drove to the Berrypatch TH to overnight until Monday morning.
With daypacks we hiked in from the (name) TH and joined up with the PCT and up to Old Snowy. Had nice views and saw Adams and Ranier but no Helens. On the way up is the PCT alternate which is the highest part of the trail in WA state - lots of hooping and hollering from those taking this 'knife edge' section of the trail ;-) On top of Old Snowy a chilly fog really started rolling in and over and made it feel much more alpine. Waited it out a bit and got some nice views over to Ives and Gilbert. Very small dying glaciers... Had some lunch then headed out. Dinner at Jackson's Pizza in Enumclaw.
