Ascent Trip Report

We started at hwy 180 at Slaughter Mountain and hiked about 2.6 miles one way and turned back. The climb up Coosa was moderate and weather was good, the climb up the backside was a little more strenuous but doable. On the way down Coosa just before Duncan Ridge and Coosa Back country trail comes together I almost stepped on a timber rattler laying on left side of trail so beware, this is the second one I've seen in this area( the first was on Blood Mountain in the spring). It was a great day for climbing
