Ascent Trip ReportKlondike-Pedestal-Flagstone-Bastion-Rampart traverse.
From camp at lake Solitude we traversed the undulating terrain over to the absolutely outstanding lake 11,205. Upper Tourist basin and the Wells Creek Basin have alot of lakes and during our trip there we went by most, but the smooth carved granite outlet of lake 11,205 is amazing with hundreds of little slides and pools to play in. We also ran into a 5 group harem of bighorn that retreated to the upper pond only to run into them on the summit later! We ascended to the saddle and then took the west ridge over to the summit after passing over billions of moth corpses (army cutworm moths?) that literally formed the dirt at the edge of the snowmelt for a large area near the westernmost false summit, cool that the summit area is still part of the glacier. Also cool is the fact that the bergschrund for the Sourdough glacier cuts right across the saddle. No register I could find, on to Pedestal!
