Ascent of Gardner Mountain on 2016-08-21
|Date:||Sunday, August 21, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8898 ft / 2712 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe started out around 5:30AM from Wolf Creek trailhead. We arrived the day before around 11PM and camped in the parking lot. There were only 2 cars.
After 3 hours of fast hiking, we reached the Gardner Meadows. We took a short break there and started the climb to Gardner Mountain. A lot of scree at the end made the ascent a bit slow, but we reached the summit before 10AM. Then, we traversed along the ridge and summited North Gardner Mountain. It was 11:00 when we reached the summit.
The hike down to the meadows was quite fast, sliding on the scree helped a lot.
The 10 miles back to the trailhead went pretty fast too, and we were back at the car by 2:45PM. The whole trip took us 9 hours 45 minutes for 26 miles.
