Ascent of Hibox Mountain on 2016-08-21
|Date:||Sunday, August 21, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||6547 ft / 1995 m|
Ascent Trip ReportGorgeous day with phenomenal views. Took the bootpath from Rachel Lake trail, which was steep, loose, and very dusty. Summit scramble was straightforward on solid rock with much less exposure than we expected. We even surprised a mountain goat at the top! Coming down is the hard part. Bring poles for the descent; the majority of the bootpath is a sketchy slidefest of loose rocks and dirt with veggie belays mandatory in several places.
3.5 hrs up, 2.5 hrs down.
