Ascent Trip Report

This is now virtually a double drive up if you can find the right roads, but the area is a maze of curvy oil access tracks, many blocked or gated and most unsigned and not necessarily where my map suggested. So it took longer than expected to find my way. For the more northerly one a road marked 486 off rt 33 gets you close.I could find no route easily connecting the two points. I accessed the southern one off route 16 but with many wrong turns along the way.In both cases I could drive my Jeep ( you'll want an appropriate vehicle) to within a few feet of the spots. The more northerly is posted on a barbed wire fence, but the signs now look ancient. The high ground inside the fence may not even be natural--it looks like they built a berm all the way arpund the oil tank. For those who want to wander inside the barbed wire , there's a nice unlocked gate. The southern one is down a rough track with an old, deteriorated open gate and no posting that I saw.
