Ascent Trip ReportTypical "Becca" super-alpine start and a line of traffic to get into the park put us up on the summit at the start of the golden hour. We ditched our full packs for a faster, more enjoyable scramble to the summit then collected our packs and headed lower across the meadow behind Castle in search of the perfect campsite. Had we hiked up and over the south end of castle's ridge we could have caught a shortcut to our beautiful campsite and a perfect water source! We took a more scenic route and enjoyed views of Adams with some sweet alpenglow before heading directly up hill toward the crest again after the arete-
We set up camp once we caught the trail just past the small spring/ stream on the east side of castle. We enjoyed beautiful views of Rainier, Adams, Hood, the Tatoosh and the south cascades from our tent in the morning!
