Ascent Trip Report

A wooded ascent on a good trail.

The 7th and last summit of our 4 day weekend, on the way back to Bratislava airport.

From the centre of the village of Klak (crossroads, trail sign, N48.58241° E18.64348°) we take the green trail which starts NE then heads in a generally northerly direction. Low down there are several tracks in the forest and it's important to keep a look out for the green and white paint markings. Two points aren't clear even though the trail is marked on OpenStreetMap: fork R at N48.59036° E18.64168° keeping L of house; at N48.60050° E18.64942° fork L on a small path immediately after forking R at a track junction.

The route is in forest all the way to the summit; after passing a mountain hut the upper part is nice beechwood.

The summit is a rock outcrop (N48.62493° E18.63507° 1348m) near to a stainless steel cross. On a clear day there is evidently a view out over the trees. Nearby is a trig block (with a rivet as a marker) on an artificial mound, at N48.62470° E18.63481°.

We are up in 1h50 and down in an hour. The upper part is in cloud but dry apart from a brief heavy rain shower near the summit.
