Ascent Trip ReportHiked with NEO40 Jeff Hale, Noelle, Rene, and Beth. Rest of the group bailed out due to the threat of rain. Started at 9:00 up the Rattle River trail to the Kenduskeag (Algonquin word which means pleasant walk) trail and sumitted at 12:30. It was hot an humid. All the rocks and logs were sweating and the trails were very slippery with everyone having many slips and several falls. Quick lunch on the summit enjoying the views. Watched the thunder clouds roll in and made a hasty descent. Caught in a short cooling deluge which stopped abruptly like turning a switch.
About halfway down Rattle River trail it started raining again at first a slow drizzle and then near the bottom a more steady rain.
Rene locked his keys in his car so we had a few trailhead beers and attempted to break into his car before giving up and calling AAA. We headed to SAALT PUb in Gorham and left Rene with an umbrella and a beer. After lunch I returned to find Rene walking back to the trailhead from the White Mountain Lodge and Hostel. I gave him the car so he would go inhale a burger at the SAALT and waited for AAA.
Another adventure completed.
