|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8373 ft / 2552 m|
Ascent Trip ReportDrove in from 89, paved road all the way past Jackson Meadow Reservoir and then continued a couple miles on the somewhat rough Meadow Lake Road to the unsigned 4wd road shown on the TOPO. Summitpost has more info on this. Unfortunately the gate was locked, and we drove around looking for alternate connectors with no luck. The road really gets bad if you continue towards Bowman Lake from this point, I can see why coming in from that direction is not recommended.
So we walked up from 6200 feet, following the road 2.2 miles where it split, we took the left track (not on TOPO) heading steeply uphill. This showed signs of vehicle travel, but you would need a monster truck to feel comfortable past the split. It was steep, rocky, and in places hard to tell the difference between the road and forest slope. This took us all the way up to the start of the north ridge, 400 vertical feet below the summit.
The ridge traverse was great fun, lots of giant boulders, class 2 and some easy 3, route finding in spots, a few false summits, just an unexpected gem. On return we dropped off to the west slope, walking just under the ridge until we found the bad jeep road and took that back down to the 4wd TOPO road. 8 miles, 2100 ft of gain.
