Ascent Trip ReportWaking up at 7am at the lovely Ropi Lake, my comrades opted out but I decided after breakfast to spontaneously climb this lovely hunk of Granite and Diorite. I began by circling around the North end of the lake, up and down a series of granite washboards, and then ascended the ridge straight up to the top. Part of this was running, as I had only two hours to make the ascent and return to the far side of Ropi Lake to meet my friends for our hike back to the cars. On top of Pyramid is a lovely view of the surrounding lakes, all the way to Lake Tahoe, but I didn't stick around long. I foolishly decided to make a loop and go down the ridge to the South/SE and then around the South end of the lake; but after getting stuck in a nasty ravine with a few hard to pass waterfalls, I changed my plans and walked around the North end of Toem and Ropi Lakes. At one point I had a nice, evenly graded snowfield that I was able to sit on and slide down in an easily controlled descent, and this was like being a child again. Total round-trip time from/to the South East corner of Ropi Lake was 2:30, and it could have been shorter if I hadn't made the mistake of not taking the same route back right away.
